The Retail World Alliance Gold Certification program is accredited under the benchmark ISO/IEC 17021 and the only certification program for the retail services industry. This distinct classification ensures your clients that you are a company of excellence with a pledge to quality, safety for your associates and customers, and store-level efficiency.
Retailers and manufacturers must assess the capabilities, services, practices and qualifications of the companies with whom they wish to do business. With Gold Certification, the guesswork is taken out of the equation, and the risk is reduced that a contracted service provider will be unable to deliver consistent, quality service.

How Are Standards Developed?
The certification criteria was drafted by the GlobalNet Oversight Board (GOB), a national organization specializing in the planning, development and implementation of certification programs. This company, along with input from the Association’s Certification Advisory Committee, comprised of representation from each membership category, developed the program offered today. Review and identified criteria modifications are conducted annually.
Your application is confidential and held by our third-party partner GOB. Retail World Alliance staff, board members nor committee members ever have access to your documents. Additionally, the filing process is permission-based so that various employees working on the application will only have access to the files they are responsible for, if so desired. Requirements and Fees
To apply for Gold Certification, you must be a Retail World Alliance member in good standing.
Initial Certification Fees
A non-refundable Application Fee of $1,600* (US) along with the Letter of Submittal, which can be found in your Membership Dashboard under Gold Certification, is required.
To keep your Gold Certification status current, each year, certified companies must complete an Annual Survey and provide Customer Satisfaction Statistics Survey to Retail World Alliance within 30-calendar days of their certification anniversary date. There is a fee of $500 (US).
Companies who meet all the Certification requirements:
- Receive a Letter of Award
- Have the Gold Certification section of the company dashboard activated, which grants access to the Certification logo and graphic standards manual
- Are listed as “Gold Certified” in the Membership Directory
- Have a press release sent to industry trade media and/or local trade media (or prepared and provided to company for release by their PR department).
Duration of Certification
Certification covers a period of three years, expiring on the anniversary date of the 3rd calendar year following the award. A certified company seeking recertification is required to submit the same but updated materials as in the initial certification application along with any updated requirements. The cost for recertification is $1600 (US).
Companies with Multiple Locations
Companies with multiple locations must demonstrate that all locations are centralized and will perform to the same standards as documented. If a company has multiple locations and is decentralized, then all locations must simultaneously submit their own Certification Application, Checklist and Fee in order for the company to be eligible for Gold Certification.
