Who We Are
Together, we are an international alliance of at-retail companies committed to delivering exceptional sales, marketing and service support to manufacturers and retailers. We are committed to elevating retail excellence via accredited company certification, interactive workforce development, key resource delivery, and cross-channel research. Our members are retailers, manufacturers, retail service providers, distributors/wholesalers, food and non-food brokers and support service providers working collaboratively in the retail space. These members represent the entire spectrum of retail.
Our Purpose is Clear
In-store retailers must address and surpass the needs of their customers by continuing to dependably deliver customer experiences that cannot be replicated online. A membership with World Alliance for Retail offers collaboration across the entire retail sector and opportunity for the continual development and improvement of member companies and their teams. We are building an atmosphere of community where business interests, along with the commitment to industry excellence and standards, thrive.
Connecting retailers, manufacturers and solution providers to bring excellence and standards to the in-store experience.
Partnering to create the perfect shopping experience.
The National Association for Retail Merchandising Services, headquartered in Stevens Point, WI, launched in 1996 with 40 merchandising service company members. In 2002, the association debuted two recruitment tools, RetailRecruiter and JobBank (which was renamed Retail Jobs North America in 2015).
In 2003, the Field Marketing Services Association, representing in-store promotions and demonstration companies, merged with the association, and the partnership became the National Association for Retail Marketing Services (NARMS) to become the only forum to bring together all facets of the retail services industry – retailer, manufacturer and retail service companies. A year later, the Independent Food Brokers of America joined.
In 2012, the offices were moved to Broomfield, CO, and in 2013, the name was officially changed to the World Alliance for Retail Excellence & Standards to better represent its global membership base, as well as highlight its mission to drive retail excellence through education and accreditation programs. The Gold Certification program launched in 2014.
